In January 2020, the ALEFE community came together to fund the creation of an Arabic Dual Immersion Preschool. Despite the unforeseen challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortfall in fundraising goals, our determination has never wavered.
A Glimpse Into Our Journey
Here’s a glimpse into our journey and the progress we’ve made towards opening the ABC Center:
- 2020: Raised approximately $25,000 during our initial fundraiser.
- 2020-2021: Project temporarily paused; funds preserved intact.
- 2021: Efforts renewed as lockdown restrictions eased.
- Fall 2021: Entered negotiations to establish a location in Arden Arcade.
- Spring 2022: Conducted a feasibility study; decided against previous site.
- Fall 2022: Began partnership talks with Elk Grove Unified School District.
- Spring 2023: Secured a suitable building in Arden Arcade and began negotiations.
- Fall 2023: Completed legal preparations to occupy the new building.
- Spring 2024: Submitted licensing applications to establish the ALEFE Bilingual Child Care Center.
